Protect your Air-Trekker Springs

July 21st, 2010

The most important “part” on an Air-Trekker Jumping Stilt is the carbon fiber leaf spring.   Although it is made with millions of tiny fibers epoxed together, it is not indestructible.  We strongly recommend you be very careful NOT to damage the spring.  So protect them!!

How?

1. The most popular method jumpers use is to wrap electrical tape around the springs.

2. Or go to PROJUMPFORUM.COM.   This is our sister brand located in the UK.  “Naz” runs a great business and claims that the UK is 3-4 years ahead of the USA in jumping stilt market penetration.  This forum is full of great ideas.  You will find many methods of protecting your springs there.

3. Mr. Benedict, from the USA sent us the following link showing his innovative way to protect his springs.

The more you fall on hard surfaces, the more you knick the spring…….the shorter the life expectancy of the spring. Protect them!!

An Innovative Way To Add Padding to Air-Trekker Knee Bars.

July 21st, 2010

The adult model Air-Trekker jumping stilt features a padded knee bar that you slip you foot and leg through.  The knee bar rests just below you knee cap.  Although nothing needs to be added to begin jumping, many have found that adding some padding to the knee bar, creates a much tighter fit around the upper calf.  A tighter fit gives the jumper more stability and confidence.

How you do add padding?

1.  Go to YouTube and search:  Air-Trekker padding.

2. Or check out the video below sent to us by Zach Benedict.  The video below is his idea.  Way to go Zach.

Air-Trekkers are a Hit in Summer Parades

July 21st, 2010

img_16181We want to thank the fine folks in Jackson, NJ for sending us some photos of how they are using Air-Trekker Jumping Stilts for entertainment purposes.   Air-Trekkers are quickly becoming a “must have” for community parades and commercial events.  The Glow In The Dark Parade, an event at one of the more respected east coast amusement parks, features costume entertainers bouncing on Air-Trekkers.

Another entertainment company, New England Nightmare, is using Air-Trekkers to make their monsters and clowns stand 8′ tall.

We’ve also learned that one of our Air-Trekker buyers in Lower Michigan, booked parades all summer long.  That’s right walking, bouncing, and running on his Air-Trekkers have become his summer job.  He says he feels like a rock star on his Air-Trekkers. We’ll have to add this to our list of ways to make money using jumping stilts.img_16192

Air-Trekkers Vs. Powerisers

April 30th, 2010

There’s often a lot of brand confusion when buying jumping stilts.  You can even find articles written about it.  If you ask the other manufacturers they’d tell you that our product quality is inferior to theirs when in reality that’s a bogus claim.  So give us a call and let us prove to you Air-trekkers are the jumping stilts to have.

Check out this testimonial we just received from a buyer!

“The wind slowed down and i got outside and fixed the cuffs to the perfect setting.

I love them!  They solve every problem I had with the powerisers.  I am immediately running faster and more confidently than I ever have in the year that I had the powerisers due to the increased stability afforded by the reduction in moving parts.

I love the silence with which they operate.  they really are whisper quiet.  you could sneak up on someone at 20 mph with these things.  The only problem that I’m having with them so far is that the stiffness is difficult to get used to.  with the lazier springiness of the fiberglass, there was more time to get the technique correct in each jump — i’m going to have to practice with these before i’m jumping like i was with the powerisers, but i can already tell they will surpass them in performance.  the lightness of the frames is luxurious.

I am no longer  finding myself worried that i won’t be able to get my foot in the right place before i hit the ground.  the powerisers seem clumsy and awkward compared to these.

these are definitely a superior model and were well worth the purchase.  now if i can only find someone to take the old powerisers off my hands, i’ll be all set!

ADULT vs. EXTREMES - What’s the difference?

April 29th, 2010

In early 2009, at the request of many licensees, our manufacturer made available a few part upgrades.  The main request by the licensees was to offer buyers a higher-end unit with a more customizable fit.

The parts of a jumping stilt that could be easily upgraded to allow more customization were the ”knee bar” and the “foot bindings”.    So they upgraded these parts and created a new model - THE EXTREME.    For about $100.00 more in cost, buyers get about $170.00 worth of upgraded parts.

These “fitting” parts are the only difference between the two models.

The generic knee bar, which is very protective yet is made for people from 110 pounds to 240 pounds…..was replaced with a “calf cuff”, a series of thick velcro straps that can be wrapped around the leg as tight or as loose as you want.   This part can also be raised and lowered like the knee bar, and also widened and narrowed to fit YOUR leg.

The plastic foot bindings on the adult model were replaced with high-end snowboard bindings.  These thick rubber straps, along with durable metal buckles are very durable.

The frame, the springs, and the feet on both models are the same.

Tyre Socks - save your Feet!

April 21st, 2010

My Canadian friend, Mark Kelly, gave me permission to post this short blog on our site.  It’s a valuable document describing one option on how to build “tyre socks” for you jumping stilts.  “Tyre socks” is a British term given to an attempt to prolong the life of your jumping stilt’s feet.

Many performers utilize the method described below.  They use all sorts of materials, from wagon wheels, to mountain bike treads, to carpet.  I’ve even seen one unit with small kids shoes attached to the bottom of the feet.

Tire socks are a inexpensive easy way to extend the life of your rubber pads/feet/hooves on your jumping stilts. It works for all brands and models including poweriser ,powerstrider ,skyrunner ,air-trekkers ,powerskips ,projumps ,flyjumper ,upwing ,powerizer ,powerskip and many of the others. Here are simple instructions on how to make yourself a set and extend the life of the pads on your jumping stilts.
image001

This is all you need to make yourself a pair of tire socks and extend the life of any jumping stilts rubber pads. Duct tape,2.5 inch hose clamps and a 12 inch kids tire the harder the better.

image002Cut the tire in half using a hacksaw or a pair of snips. You will feel that there is a wire that goes around on each side of the tire you can cut that off the tire if you want to .That is preference and also depends on the width of the tire. You can use 2 clamps or 3 im going to use 2.
image003Fully extend the hose clamps and put them over the foot of your stilt and place the middle of the tire on the end of the rubber foot as shown.
image004Fold the tire over the stilt as shown making sure it is tight around the foot pad and tighten the clamps untill they hold it tight.
image005Wrap the duct tape around the loose ends of the hose clamps so they dont flop around. You can use different color tires and tape for you desired effect.
image006There you have it an easy way to save your rubber pads and your money.

Spring Stilts

April 5th, 2010

Jumping stilts are also sometimes referred to as Spring Stilts.  No particular brand claims this name but it’s more a slang used for jumping stilts in general. Here is a great video of a  guy on a pair of his stilts.  He mentions in the description of his video that he’s only had his spring stilts for about a week and I’d say he’s doing pretty good.

Easy Access to Parts and Upgrades:

February 26th, 2010

Why it’s so Important in the Jumping Stilt Industry?
Most brands of Jumping Stilts have, as their core, a light
weight, carefully engineered aluminum frame.  These units
have other attachment parts that allow the units to function:
springs, feet, leg braces.

Like the tires on a bike, or shoes on your feet…..these
attachments can wear out….or need upgrading.   These
attachments are also the parts most susceptible to
damage on big crashes.

Damage on Big Crashes?

Yes, like a bike, skateboard, or even a car; if you crash the
well- built, carefully engineered, bike or car hard enough,
they can be damaged.   It can happen.

Also, bockers include the full spectrum of people.  Many are
moderate adrenalin freaks, yet also many are extreme
loonatics; like the Olympic Half  Pipe type of guys.

Out there!  These type of bockers, keep upgrading their units
as they become more experienced.  Their  new strength and
stamina allows them to go bigger, on bigger springs.  It happens.

Anyway, when or if, the time to buy parts arrives, you will
need easy access to quality replacement parts.  Each of the
USA’s brand licensees should have a good stock of replacement
parts.

If you want quick fulfillment, whether you purchase your
jumping stilts in a store, or online, I recommend calling your
brand licensees.

The people at Air-Trekkers.com, a USA Jumping Stilt licensee,
offer to their buyers a one year warranty on all parts.  The feet
have a (6) month warranty.  They offer replacement parts to
THEIR BUYERS at cost, plus shipping in some cases.

That’s 25% below wholesale.

(A pair of springs can be had for $100.00.)

Better yet, the staff at Air-Trekkers can have your order on
the docks within 24 hours.

As you gain experience, and confidence on your Jumping
Stilts, you will try more radical manuevers.  Initially these
manuevers don’t always work out the way you intend.   Easy
access to quality parts at rock bottom prices is a great convenience.

Happy Bocking.

2010 Youth Model - Feedback

January 26th, 2010

2010 Youth Model Feedback (1-26-10)

1.    Many people have called and asked, “Should I get my son the youth model or the smallest adult model - M60?”

If your son/daughter is 13 years old, weighs at least 110 pounds, and is 5 ft. 3 inches tall or taller, then they can buy the Adult Model.   If they are under any of the 3 criteria above, they should use the Youth Model.  The adult model is for teenagers and adults.  They are heavier and much bigger.  Even if you think your 12 year old is big and bold, they simply will not be able to handle the adult model’s size.  And you want your kids to have FUN!!

What size Youth Model should I buy?

Currently we are importing 2 Youth Model sizes.  The F50s are for larger kids.  Even though we advertise that they are for 90-110 pounders, the feedback from holiday shoppers is that kids should be 100-110 pounds to really enjoy the F50s.

WHY?  The new youth models are completely retooled and the springs are manufactured with newer technologies.  They are much stiffer than the 2009 models.  Several lighter, F50 buyers have called and said they can not bend the springs very well.  Time will loosen the springs but we want your kids to use the Air-Trekkers, and have fun.   Kids have fun when they can bounce around with minimal effort.

The F30s are what 90% of kids should be buying.  95-100 pounders will even enjoy the F30s.   The new springs will support these weight loads.   The F30s are a great and safe beginner product that everyone on the block will enjoy!!!!
